Overview

The International School of Florence urgently seeks an outstanding and experienced teacher of MYP I&S for Grades 6-10 and IBDP GP for Grades 11-12.

  • Commencement of duties: Approximately 1 October 2026
  • Duration: Current Academic Year (end date 30 June 2027). The terms will be reviewed by the end of the appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach MYP Individuals & Societies (Grades 6-10) and IBDP Global Politics (Grades 11-12) according to IB standards and school curriculum guidelines.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities that cater to students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Assess, document, and report on student progress and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high educational standards and foster an inclusive learning environment.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • A relevant first degree and teaching qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time teaching experience in an international school.
  • Experience in working with learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with MYP strongly preferred.
  • Experience with IBDP I&S and Global Politics preferred.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold an EU passport or a valid Italian working permit.

Substitute Teachers

The Junior and Upper Schools are looking for well trained, licensed and experienced teachers to serve as an occasional substitute teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must be already residing in Florence. You can submit an expression of interest using the details below. Interviews will be scheduled with select candidates.

Essential skills and experience:
  • A relevant first degree and teaching qualification
  • Excellent communication skills in English, equivalent to Level C1 (CEF)
  • Hold a current Partita IVA for contractual purposes
  • You must be able to work at short notice
Preferred skills and experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of full time teaching experience in an international school environment
  • Experience with the IB programmes (PYP, MYP or DP) strongly preferred
