Building Strong Foundations: Handwriting Without Tears in Our Classroom

Handwriting is more than just a skill—it's a gateway to literacy and self-expression. At the Foundation class, we embrace the Handwriting Without Tears program, a method designed to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

The children engage in various hands-on activities that bring letter and number formation to life. For example, they form trains and gently "write" letters or numbers on a friend's back, creating a fun and interactive experience. Some choose to trace letters on their own hands or draw them on the carpet.

These tactile experiences help develop fine motor skills and memory, reinforcing learning in a multisensory way. Over time, this playful practice leads to more confident writing in their handwriting books and later in their independent work.

By combining movement, touch, and creativity, we’re helping our young learners build a strong foundation in literacy, ensuring they approach writing with confidence and joy.
