Growing Readers: Partner Reading in Foundation Year

Learning to read is one of the most exciting milestones in a child’s early education. In our Foundation Year, we nurture this journey through the Reader's Workshop, where students engage in partner reading to grow their skills and share the joy of reading with a friend.

Partner reading is a collaborative activity that encourages children to learn from each other. Taking turns, students read aloud, listen carefully, and offer support as needed. This interaction builds fluency and comprehension while boosting their confidence in a supportive environment.

Through shared reading experiences, students also develop critical thinking and social skills. They discuss stories, ask questions, and make predictions together, transforming reading into a dynamic and interactive activity.

At this stage, every small achievement is a big step toward literacy. By practicing in pairs, students reinforce foundational skills like phonics, decoding, and vocabulary building, which are essential for independent reading.

Our Foundation Year program is all about making learning meaningful and fun, and partner reading is just one of the ways we inspire a love of books and stories.
