Developing Skills Through Show and Tell Writing in Writer’s Workshop

In our Writer’s Workshop, young learners explored their creativity and literacy skills through an exciting Show and Tell Writing activity. This engaging project invited children to bring an object from home, closely observe it, and put on their "attenta scopes" to capture every detail through detailed drawings.

Students carefully labeled their illustrations using "snap words" and worked as brave spellers, using classroom routines and tools to sound out and write words independently. This process not only nurtured their artistic expression but also strengthened foundational writing skills, building their confidence as budding authors.

By connecting hands-on drawing with early literacy practices, the activity provided a meaningful and fun way for children to develop their writing abilities while expressing themselves creatively.
