The Junior School is a full-day program from 8.45-15.30. We offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP), which is designed to inspire young minds, challenge students and aims to meet a full range of learners' needs from Pre-School to Fifth Grade. The Junior School focuses on the total growth of the developing child, while encompassing their social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development within a caring, international environment.
Emphasis is placed on how to question, express one's thinking, apply knowledge and gain skills using a range of approaches. Teaching methodologies for all grades rely on first-hand experiences, visual and hands-on learning methods, the use of technology, creative projects, music, and storytelling, as well as field trips to the city of Florence, and other Italian cities for cultural and educational enrichment.
Each student is given
individual attention to help become a positive, sensitive, secure person. The school's emphasis on internationalism guides the students towards an awareness and acceptance of cultures differing from theirs.
The Junior School aims to provide students with the tools they need to cope in today's society. Students are encouraged to become fluent in two languages. An integrated Italian equivalency program is offered for our host country students who wish to meet the requirements of the Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione.
